Dorinde Kleinegris, from NORCE presents on photoautotrophic microalgae as potential ingredient for fish feed at Aquaculture Europe Berlin. iFishIENCi partner, NORCE has optimised the production process for microalgae based fish feed and used the data for techno-economic analysis. The results indicate, that microalgae based omega-3 fatty acids can compete with heterotrophic microalgae oil and even fish oil. In the IFishIENCI project, the team continues to build on these results, improving the process and looking at the integration of waste streams from aquaculture, as well as producing large quantities of biomass for further fish feed analyses.
