iFishIENCi autumn trials with Nannochloropsis powder
0 Comment
The first batch of Nannochloropsis powder (photoautotrophic microalgae) has been shipped to iFishIENCi partner Aller Aqua Research & Development, for the project’s autumn fish feed trial in Germany. The algae were produced using state-of-the-art tubular photobioreactors (GemTube TM) and optimized production processes by iFishIENCi partners, Universitetet i Bergen and NORCE, at the National Algaepilot Mongstad in Norway. The biomass was further treated using bead-milling technology to enhance its digestibility, and then dried. The Nannochloropsis powder contains high amounts of omega-3 fatty acids, and potentially can replace the use of fish-oil in fish feeds.
