iFishIENCi partner, Leitat has shipped an antioxidant supplement, extracted from Nannochloropsis powder (photoautotrophic microalgae), to Aller Aqua Research & Development, for the project’s fish feed trial in Germany. Nannochloropsis powder was provided by NORCE and treated by LEITAT by Ultrasound-Assisted Extraction followed by enzymatic technologies, to improve the accessibility of bioactive compounds contained within the algal cells. The supplement will be used in Rainbow trout diets to assess its effects on fish growth performance and its possible influence on the fish microbiome.
