Győri “Előre” Fisheries Co-operative is considered as one of the most significant enterprises engaged in aquaculture activities. Győri “Előre” produces and processes freshwater fish and provides a wide range of products including live and processed fish and oven-ready products as well. The cooperative has 48 employees. In the past 5 years the company is participated 2 RandD projects and 4 company developmental projects within the frame of European Fisheries Fund. The company aims at continuous development not only at aquaculture technology, but also by developing innovative fish products. Győri Előre has been awarded OMÉK Aquaculture Product Reward for its smoked sturgeon fillet product in 2013.

The Hellenic Centre for Marine Research was established in 2003. The Institute of Marine Biology, Biotechnology and Aquaculture is one of the three institutes of HCMR. The institute has land-based and near-shore aquaculture facilities in Crete and is carrying out fundamental and applied research related to aquaculture. The Department of Aquaculture aims on the understanding and the control of the biological mechanisms involved in the rearing process of marine organisms. Furthermore, the department is working towards the development of appropriate production systems, technologies and husbandry methods for all the developmental stages of the reared organisms in close collaboration with the private sector.

UiB is an internationally recognised research university with a staff of ca. 3600, and 15000 students. The Department of Biological Sciences (BIO) is among the largest departments at UiB and undertakes research across a broad range of disciplines including fish biology, fish health, and fish nutrition, and 2/3 of the faculty work in marine science. BIO has the largest production of aquaculture masters and PhD aquaculture students in Norway. The Marine Developmental Biology research group at BIO is chaired by Ivar Rønnestad studies control of appetite, digestive function, endocrine control of digestion, nutrient sensing in the GI-tract, and the gut brain axis in fish. UiB/BIO researcher Dorothy J. Dankel is the leader for the Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI), dissemination and capacity building work. Dankel is also the “RRI Champion” responsible for integration of RRI across all iFishIENCi technical work.

(TTZ) was founded in 1987 in Bremerhaven, Germany as an independent non-profit organisation to serve as practical oriented link between the University of Applied Sciences in Bremerhaven and the regional economy. TTZ is an innovative provider of applied research and development, customer-oriented training and technology transfer services. TTZ has coordinated and participated in the development, negotiation, implementation and management of more than 400 European and international projects, ranging from small and medium scale to large-scale projects. In the field of aquaculture TTZ has experience in sustainable water and wastewater management, development of animal feed recipes, recycling of deployed feed, sensory tests of aquaculture products, process- and facility optimization, feasibility studies and cost benefit analysis.
