Testing microalgae fish oil replacements
0 Comment
iFishIENCi partner, NORCE, is testing the microalgae species Phaeodactylum tricornutum, as a possible replacement of fish oil in salmon feed. Dorinde Kleinegris, Senior Researcher of NORCE, presented the first results at the Aqua Nor conference in Trondheim, Norway. Phaeodactylum can be used as a source of omega-3 fatty acid, and might be able to replace 25% of fish oil in salmon feed without negative effects.
